Application Requirements

All First Yr (Freshman) Applicants

1. Submit a completed Common Application Form*, along with a nonrefundable $70 application fee. (Delight note that if you asking a fee waiver, you will be required to provide documentation from your schoolhouse advisor to support the request.)

Transfer Applicants

Transfer Credits and Placement

Ringling College will consider for transfer whatever liberal arts or studio art credit that meets our academic requirements and where a grade of C or better was earned from a regionally-accredited higher or university. Studio art credit will be awarded based upon the criteria above and a portfolio review. All of Ringling Higher's studio courses are sequential and accept pre-requisites.  Students accept to complete the 1st-year studio courses before taking 2nd-year studio courses; second 'twelvemonth studio courses before taking 3rd-year studio courses; and 3rd-year studio courses before taking the 4th-year capstone/thesis courses.

If you lot accept taken Liberal Arts courses at another college/university, those courses will be evaluated by the Academic Advisers in the Office of Advising, Records, and Registration Services to determine if they come across the degree requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts or Available of Arts Caste. The number of Liberal Arts classes completed has no bearing on your form level. But studio classes decide your class level.  Students enrolling with an Associate of Arts or a Available of Arts degree from a regionally accredited higher or university will be considered to have met the Liberal Arts requirements for the BFA degree.

Students are limited to a total of 66 semester hours of transfer credits. A minimum of 54 semester hours must be taken at Ringling College of Art and Design. Transfer Credits for Military Applicants

Transfer credit may exist awarded for military courses based upon ACE Guidelines. Transfer of Credit Policies + Articulation Agreements

Studio Transfer Credit
Students who have taken studio art courses at some other regionally accredited institution of higher teaching may have those courses and a portfolio reviewed by the department head or Bookish Affairs designee to decide if the credits can utilize to the degree requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Arts degrees.  Requests for studio transfer credit must be supported by a sufficient number of portfolio submissions that demonstrate the competencies associated with those required by the majors.

Permission to accept courses at other colleges during the summer is granted through the Office of Advising, Records and Registration Services.  Students must meet with their Bookish Advisor who volition consider all aspects of the educatee's request, including the quality and level of the proposed grade and its role in the educatee's program of report earlier completing a Transient Student grade.  Courses intended to fulfill major requirements must also be approved by the department head.

Students entering with an Associate of Arts or Bachelor of Arts degree from a regionally accredited college or university volition be considered to have met the liberal arts requirements for the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or Bachelor of Arts caste.  Students inbound with an Acquaintance of Science or Bachelor of Scientific discipline degree from a regionally accredited college or academy will have their liberal arts credits evaluated to determine if they fulfill the distribution requirements for the B.F.A. degree or the B.A. degree.  Additional grade work may be required.

Art History Transfer Credit
Students who have taken art history courses at another regionally accredited institution of higher education may have those courses evaluated by the Academic Advisors in the Office of Advising, Records, and Registration Services to decide if they meet the caste requirements for the Available of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Arts Degree. Departments at Ringling College may accept specific fine art history requirements such as a history of the subject area. The proposed transfer credit volition exist reviewed by the Academic Advisor and/or an Academic Affairs designee to decide if the credit meets institutional standards for course equivalence.

Liberal Arts Transfer Credit

Admission to Advanced Continuing by Portfolio Review

Residency Requirement

  • St. Petersburg College:  AA with an emphasis in Studio Art
    Valencia Higher: AA in Art/Studio Art


Veterans

Ringling College is approved for veterans' written report under several GI bills, and participates in the Yellow Ribbon Programme.  Veterans should contact the Veteran Certifying Official in the Office of Advising, Records and Registration Services for more information.

International Students:
International students who have attended a college/university exterior the U.s. and are requesting transfer credit must have their academic credentials evaluated by a Foreign Credential Evaluation Service. Readmission Applicants

Estimator Animation

International Baccalaureate Credit

Ringling College recognizes the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Students with IB coursework may be given credit for individual liberal arts courses if they score 5 through 7 on the IB College-Level Examinations.
